The Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Blata l-Bajda

The Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, also known as the Kappella ta' Sidtna Marija tal-Midalja Mirakoluża or the SDC M.U.S.E.U.M. Chapel, is a must-see destination for those visiting Malta for religious purposes. Built in 1958, this beautiful chapel was designed by the renowned Maltese architect Richard England, and is known for its stunning simple yet modern architecture.

The chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is considered a sacred site by many. It is also home to the blessed remains of Saint George Preca, a Maltese priest and founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine. This makes the chapel a pilgrimage destination for many Catholics in Malta and around the world.

Visitors to the chapel will be struck by the modernistic architectural design of the building, which features traditional Maltese elements such as the use of local stone. One of the highlights of visiting the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is the opportunity to visit the remains of Saint George Preca, which is kept below a wax status of the saint in the chapel. The relic is considered to be a powerful symbol of faith and devotion, and many visitors come to the chapel to pray and ask for the saint's intercession.

The Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is open to visitors throughout the year, and was also visited by Pope Francis in his visit to Malta in 2022 and by St. John Paul 2 in 2001.
